Deer and Mountains, Buena Vista, October 2012

Random pictures of  deer and mountains, Buena Vista, Colorado, October 2012.

Early morning

Before the first snow

After the first snow

Clouds in Colorado can be spectacular

Peaks usually very visible, hidden by clouds

Deer in these mountain communities can become very brazen, to the point of being pests

But this one was cute

Clearly early morning, as indicated by the shadow. Probably didn't think anyone would be up.

Uh oh, my cover is blown!

Now that it knows it's being watched, it trots away.

The deer come out in the evening, too.

Nice points on this one, clearly been around a few years.

Rockies

Some shots I took in June 2012 in the Rockies. These are some of my favorites.

A deer in Colorado Springs
Nightfall in Buena Vista
Black Canyon
It was a holiday in Cripple Creek, celebrating a mule train from long ago
Forest fires that summer sent animals fleeing
A chipmunk at Wilkerson Pass
A neighbor breeds dogs with wolves
Clouds above the Rockies
Mount Yale
Early morning in Buena Vista
Five Fingers early in the morning
Beautiful flowers where there is enough water
Cottonwood Lake
View from above Cottonwood Lake
Dogs aren't always friendly in the mountains
You need to search for color in the dry mountains
A specially tended bush, eaten away below by deer
A neighbor rescues animals and has a mini-zoo
This little bugger came over and nipped my leg
Early morning in Buena Vista
The animals will come and visit
They like to pose for the camera
This reminds me of Dr. Doolittle
Cactus abounds
Typical scene, Five Fingers in the background
Ethereal clouds
A friendly local
The mountains always are good subjects
Fences must be propped up because of the wind
That truck hasn't run in years
The water flows until about mid-June
Morning scene
Pollinating flowers
A tender butterfly
The modern and the timeless
